Travel Photos

Not the fancy kind of travel photos, just regular getting-from-one-place-to-another photos

It was a windy start to the trip.

I saved the 36th bottle

I mostly walked, but cycled once,
just to say I had done it

It was nice to change planes in Phoenix and have new places to explore.

Busy Morning

I didn't take my phone on my morning outing so there is only one picture. My stops included

  • delivering a birthday card
  • stopping at four mulberry trees
  • visiting four little libraries
  • running one mile on a trail with rabbits and lizards
  • discovering a neighbor's box offering home-grown vegetables
  • supporting a yard sale run by a child raising money to buy a keyboard
Great treasures for a total of $10!

Busy weekend - Sunday

Twenty years ago the 110 freeway was shut down for cars and open to bicyclists and pedestrians. It happened again this year.

Here's a video from the event.

And here is an article from the LA Times that has a nice drone shot of the event.

Four of us left town at 7am and cycled to the end of the A Line (previously the L Line and before that the Gold Line).

It felt more crowded than it looks in this picture.

Here are some pictures from their social media page.

It was not too crowded on the metro to the end of the line.

About ten minutes from the metro stop was a deli that something for everyone before cycling the 12 miles back home.

So Proud of Myself

I love my early morning rides to the pool, but one morning something shifted, which made me swerve, but I did not fall. It was dark so I waited until after my swim to examine my bike. I figured out a bolt that had been holding the bike rack in place was missing.

I looked in the plastic bag of random things in my basket and found a twist tie like this one.

It broke on the way home, but part of it was still in place,

Good enough

I had a ride scheduled with a friend that morning so I found some better twist ties,

but the best was having D. fix it with a new bolt.

Transportation

It is not always true that I enjoy the journey as much as the destination, but during my last trip there were some parts I enjoyed.

We had a long layover in Denver but D. knew
about a patio with plenty of places to sit

and a good view.

We brought only one bike on the trip (which D. and A. were able to repair).
A. had his own bike and was able to borrow one for me to use.
The weather was ideal, the trails were fantastic, and our tour guide was the best!

We rented a car but on my last day I got to take a train to the airport.

Bye, Philadelphia.

I took the Rapid from the airport for the last part of my trip.
Two different transit systems in one day!

It was nice enough weather to use my Ohio bicycle.

No picture of a car, but here's a view of the
art museum on the drive to the airport.

Planes, trains, automobiles, and bicycles - another great trip!

What I Saw Around Town

I went for a walk with a friend and
then another one with her mom.

The freesia smelled great

and the azalea looked great.

I was not excited to see a swarm of bees
finding a new home in a tree in front of the library.

Not the usual place for a bicycle.

This is not a little library.

There is always something new to see in town.

September Leftovers

I no longer have a toddler with me four days a week
but we do have fun together now and then.

I don't know if this still works but it still looks good!

From our all-vegan dinner (the only exception was that I bought
dairy coffee ice cream along with vegan coffee ice cream)

I couldn't figure out what those marks meant. Usually the
squares turn yellow when there are runners
base. Turns out it was time to clean my screen!

We had a visit at the picnic table.

I could not figure out what happened.
Maybe some eggs got stuck in some sap?
