More Mail Issues

 

I had posted that our drive-through boxes were covered at night because people had been using double-sided tape to catch mail before it dropped into the box.

In August I saw that they had new boxes that have a tiny slot for mail, but a person can no longer use them from the driver's seat.

A week or two ago I saw someone fixing a mailbox. The local newspaper reported, "Someone pried open the public mailbox on the north side of the Claremont Post Office building at 140 Harvard Ave. at 1 p.m., then fled. Police don’t know if the suspect stole any mail, and they have no suspect information."

This mail carrier said that the box was removed because it could not be fixed on site. He said to take mail inside and not to mail it in a box that has already been emptied for the day.

Catching Up

I had my fill of pop culture last week. On my flights to and from Ohio I had the opportunity to watch movies.

For the first time I saw A Christmas Story (1983), which was filmed in Cleveland.

I also saw Love Actually (2003) for the first time.

Barbie came out only this year, so I am not so far behind.

I watched a few episodes, which seemed like enough.

Dad and I saw Maestro in the movie theater.

Going Home Again

60th Anniversary

 On August 16th I ordered tickets for this event. The production was free and I was afraid of missing out.

Join us for an unforgettable night celebrating 60 years of Garrison Theater, where we’ll honor its rich history showcasing special performances of Bespoke Mosaic Shakespeare directed by Beatrice Casagran, founder and artistic director of Ophelia’s Jump Productions.

At the time I did not know we would be invited to a dinner across the street and I was a little uptight about the timing. Surely we should not get there at the last minute. I wanted to have decent seats.

Showing up on time meant standing around and listening to speeches!

After the speeches each actor had a brief introductory soliloquy.

Everyone headed inside and I really hoped to get a good seat. No problem because the theater was about ten percent full, at most. I suppose I should say that is a good thing because we had great seats, but I am sorry so many people missed a fantastic performance. A small set actors performed each scene portrayed by the Millard Sheets mosaics shown above.

There were plenty of party favors to go around.
