Repeat Post

I thought this was a repeat post, but I can't find the original one. It is hard to imagine I have not written about it before. To avoid any inaccuracies and to avoid repeating what I may or not have written, I will simply send you to the official site for Dividing the Light.

Part of the reason not to run with a camera is that I stop
to take pictures and since this looks different
each moment it is hard to pull myself away.

I love the two-tone light.

I love this shade of blue.

I love seeing it with a full moon, which would
have been even better if I had been there earlier when
it was in the opening, but this is the best I could do.

If you come visit we can go together, either at dusk or dawn.

One in a Continuing Series

 At least I got a blog post out of it!

I went back to the Red Cross to donate platelets and passed the iron test. I thought I would watch a documentary but the streaming site was not working.

I chose this movie because everyone had told me I should
see it and enjoy all the great Philadelphia scenes.

After the movie ended I asked about the one scene I have seen online, the one where Rocky is running with the whole neighborhood of kids. Turns out that was in Rocky II, but not only was that not this movie, this was not the first one!! Oh no! It has Rocky in the title and no number (like Rocky II, III, and IV, AND V),

it has him in black and white on the museum steps, but I watched the whole movie and it was the wrong one. As I watched it I thought it was odd to see that some restaurant opened in 1995 because I thought the first Rocky movie was older than that, but I figured time is strange and I never can tell how long ago things really happened. Do I have to go back and watch the first one and see yet another fight scene? Ugh. 

At least I got a blog post out of it.

A Good Week

There was a full week for fall break and less time at Thanksgiving so A. came home to ride bikes and have a change of pace.

Before he was even inside he was pumping
up tires for the next morning's ride.

This was the hardest ride of the week, which he
added to by riding 22 miles w D. afterward.
He said he got in about 300 miles overall.

Other activities included hanging out with friends

and neighbors

and eating food that would not
be served in the dining hall, 
like this sizzled date dish.

He went out for sushi with relatives and coffee with a friend. I took him shopping and spoiled him to the best of my ability and he still went back! There is always winter break to look forward to.

Never Gets Old

That is what my uncle says about his baseball team winning, but for me it is all about CicLAvia. It may be a new route or one I've done before, but each time it fills me with love for the people of LA and hope for humanity.

I did a pretty good job of taking only freebies I really wanted.

There were four dessert pins but we got only one of them. Oh well.

More sightseeing

We saw a few things in addition to the USC bookstore,

including lovely trees at Exposition Park

and lots of flowers in bloom.

I like the grand entrance at the LA Coliseum

and I am not sure why there was a covered fence all around it.

It was great seeing the Endeavour space shuttle and touching the sea stars.

We found a good spot for lunch

and because two consecutive buses did not show up we missed our train and had time for a quick visit to Olvera Street across from Union Station. This mural is special to me, probably because it is painted by the person who illustrated one of my favorite childhood books.

Discretionary Purchases

I was with some visitors and we had a little time to spend. 

We found a store filled almost completely with non-essential items.

I am willing to put textbooks into the essential category.

Jewelry

and chocolate are definitely discretionary.

How about USC dog toys

and USC golf equipment?

Maybe shoes,

Tommy Trojan shirts, 

and sports coats are necessary?

I suppose transportation is essential.

Not essential but so entertaining!

I think we need to visit UCLA next.

September Leftovers

 

I no longer have a toddler with me four days a week
but we do have fun together now and then.

I don't know if this still works but it still looks good!

From our all-vegan dinner (the only exception was that I bought
dairy coffee ice cream along with vegan coffee ice cream)

I couldn't figure out what those marks meant. Usually the
squares turn yellow when there are runners
base. Turns out it was time to clean my screen!

We had a visit at the picnic table.

I could not figure out what happened.
Maybe some eggs got stuck in some sap?
