Busy Afternoon

The baby I take care of is turning one. Her parents, with help from family and friends, had a fun party in the park.

The theme was Hawaiian shave ice,
which made for a colorful event.
The cone on the right is a piñata.

People could get a cup of ice and select their own flavors.

City Celebration

When we were in the park last week

we could see that everything was being spruced up.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate

and the event was moved inside.

Vacation, Part Three

 Because the weather was great we decided to walk around Millionaire's Row in Pasadena,

which includes the Wrigley Mansion, which
is now The Tournament of Roses headquarters.

Nice that they have room in back for their fleet.

I know we will go back one day because while I was doing some research for this post I learned that there

is a Pasadena Tournament of Roses Little Free Library and we missed it by half a block! 😧

We enjoyed looking at houses

and walking on the Colorado Street Bridge.

From there we could snap a picture of the front of the
United States Court of Appeals, the satellite location of the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit based in San Francisco.

We poked around Defenders Park before moving the car
and heading to our the last part of our vacation.

Something old

Something new (to me, I never noticed it before)

Something borrowed, just for the afternoon

Something blue(s, or maybe jazz)

Yippee - a project to watch

The first sign was the mark on the ground,

followed by strange cages.

Next, we were sitting inside and heard a truck by our house and lucky for us it stopped.

We watched its tank get filled

and then followed our new friend to the park.

Every single day we went to park and learned the whole process for installing lights. I found it fascinating but I am not sure the pictures express the joy of the process. Here are a few selected from the dozens I took.

Mysterious Fountain

It looks like this fountain in Memorial Park has been here for a while even though I can't remember noticing it before. It may have been around a while since it is dedicated to Allan John Carter, who passed away in 1949. I have not learned anything else yet.

There is also this fountain. It is the same color I don't think it is the same era.

Neither fountain is functional.

My very favorite part was time with family and a friend, walking together through the parks. Here they are walking on Avenida Ámsterdam in the Hipódromo area of Mexico City, named because horses used to race here!
