Hard at Work

Yes, I could just re-post my work photos from six years ago, but another sweet baby means more sweet pictures.

We take a lot of walks, including to fountains on campus.
J. seems to like watching the water and watching the students.

All the watching is tiring!

It seems that the best part of storytime
is seeing what all the big kids are doing.

Sometimes we just hang out and look at the leaves being
moved by the wind, which is also a nice chance to snuggle.

I am so lucky that once a week I have the best helper
and biggest laugh-getter hanging out with us.

The Usual

When there is time to write I have nothing to say, but life has been so full I have forgotten to take pictures.

Tonight our international student arrives and will stay with us for five nights until the dorms open.

Today was the recoop sale when the sustainability people sell all the stuff people got rid off in May (fans, closet organizers, binders, etc.). I don't need anything, but there are always a few treasures like board games, a solar lantern, and an electric tea kettle.

A chunk of time was spent preparing for the League of Women Voters kick-off event for their voter engagement initiative. The goal is get leaders of organizations, anyone with a web page or social media presence, to encourage their followers to vote. The League tends to reach current voters with traditional methods and efforts are being made to branch out.

High school registration is labor intensive (so much paperwork even though most forms are completed online prior to arriving at the school) and many volunteers are needed. Originally I had a cushy job marking completed forms but I was quickly transferred to the student ID/school picture site. It took a little more thought, but it still gave me a chance to see students and some parents. I think A. got both a good ID picture and a good schedule (not which is more important!).

One of my favorite mornings was spent with the amazing person I used to care for as a nanny. Kindergarten starts next week and I will get to do pickup at noon sometimes. It will be great to have someone to play with, bake with, and read favorite books to!

Another Day at the Rat Race

Work, work, work.

The morning is time for a walk to see the plants

and the animals

and then to sleep.

Afterward have a little snack,

read a book,

and then visit Mom and sleep a bit more.

What a life!

Coincidence

Yesterday was my first official day as a nanny and this was what was on our Awesome! calendar.

It's been fun to use the sling again and listen to Music Together music.  It has also been entertaining when friends drive by, roll down the window, and ask if I have some news ("It's a girl!" I answer).

Baby's first convocation

The challenges include remembering how to eat and go to the bathroom while holding a baby every waking moment (answer:  put her down and know that she is safe and that it is important to meet my needs, too).  The other challenge is how to keep baby happy without nursing.  We do visit her mom twice a day for that purpose, so it is only at the end of the day when she would prefer Mom to the bottle that I go through all my tricks.

But, really, so far, so good.  It is sweet to play together and have someone to talk to!
