Tree

I had nothing to blog about so I took a couple pictures and thought I would write about a tree.

I took a picture of the leaves.

I took a picture of the fruit at different stages.

I took a picture of a fresh fruit opened
up so you could see the bumpy pit.

I went to the Arbor Day tree identification site and went through the process a few times. I wrote to a friend. No luck.

So for today's post I will share that this is life. You do your best but sometimes the answer is not clear. Just keep going forward and one day the answer will be revealed!

________

That was fast. The amazing Stephen Swafford of Indah Bulan solved the mystery. The tree is a yellow oleander and I love this description, "Yellow oleander trees (Thevetia peruviana) sound as if they should be closely related to oleander, (genus Nerium) but they aren’t. Both are members of the Dogbane family, but they reside in different genera and are very different plants." Read more at Gardening Know How.

End of the month

Here are a few random photos.

A. trying to fill time when bored - not so different from five years ago.

I am trying to learn everything about running a polling place and I am not bored at all.

We hosted a Physics and Astronomy Department party for seniors and their families.

Followed by graduation the next day - I love seeing the professors dressed up.

Part of our roof was replaced.  Too bad it hasn't rained so we don't know if the leak was fixed.

I know there are plenty of other things that happened (seeing a rattlesnake while hiking, hearing Bill Moyers, riding the tandem), but you'll have to take my word for it.

Keep on truckin'

This shows my 160 day streak, although some of it was Danish, which I have now stopped
in order to focus on Spanish.  The good news is that when I want to form a Spanish
sentence I don't automatically create in Danish and then translate that into Spanish!

I have also been working on yoga.  It turns out I just dislike yoga class, not yoga.  I am happy to try different things without an audience.  Some of us cannot turn off our competitive streak.

Sometimes it is hard to figure out how I worked three days a week!

Why no posts?

First we were on vacation.

Then I came home and took care of Zoey for the day and we fed the fish, tried the sample at the grocery store, and discussed the merits of wearing a bicycle helmet.  And of course hung up laundry.
Someone wasn't thrilled about exploring a lab at Harvey Mudd College.
After she went home I went to examine the contents of our safe-deposit box because the next day we were going to apply for Hungarian citizenship for the kids.  What a list of items.
Hmm - not quite sure if photos are allowed so this is a surreptitiously taken one.
Without traffic the drive to the consulate is one hour (of course, because everything is one hour).  With traffic the drive took about 45 minutes longer.  How miserable.  But we had all the paperwork and exact change so now we just wait.

Today was spent shopping for school supplies, party supplies, and trying to find the title to the house so we can set up a trust.

On top of that I share the computer with A. and try not to use it much during the day.  When is there time to post?

So this is just a filler post to let you know that I am still here and that another post will appear shortly.  Maybe even later today.
