New Game on Campus

 

The school announced, "This weekend, all day Saturday and all-day Sunday, the campus will be used by an organization as they train and test dogs. They will have judges and training scenarios for sniffing out hidden items."

The people setting up said it was ok to walk around before they started.

I had a chance to see one of the test dogs in action. They use the experienced dogs to make sure buried items can be found. 

I like their nose logo.

And a real nose, waiting to work.

CicLAvia

 It was another foggy morning but we had a safe drive to CicLAvia starting in South LA, not far from Exposition Park.

We got there before the official start and the streets
were closed but not many people were out.

As time passed more people were out and more dogs, too!

There were plenty of walkers and lots of runners today.

I did not get a good shot of the person on the penny farthing

and I didn't see the person sitting on his
handlebars while pedaling his bicycle.

Cycling somewhere we hadn't been before is always a high point.
We saw the  LAFC stadium for the first time.

Despite my best efforts we still end up with lots of freebies.
We also talked to neighborhood groups and learned
that the Obama portraits are on tour at LACMA and
there is going to be a new museum dedicated
to narrative arts (storytelling through images).

What a great event!

Fifteen

Thanks to my connected sister I learned about dog Quinceañeras, but we did not hold one for the dog we are hosting this year. Instead we took an extra walk to buy dog treats and gave her a bath and trim.

Sabbath of the Seventh Year

Sabbatical leaves are are based on the same idea of using the fields for six years and then resting them for the seventh. Most people on leave are doing plenty of work, but it is still a chance to recharge.

This is not a way to announce that we are taking a leave, but a post to say seven years ago we opened our home to Maggie, the sabbatical dog (click here to read that post).
